How to be “smart” in Guangzhou?

As part of the 2021 Convention on Exchange of Overseas Talent and the 23rd Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology (OCS), the 2021 Guangzhou Job Fair for Foreigners is ongoing in Guangzhou, Guangdong province and will last until December 31, attracting global talents’ attention to the “City of Flowers”.


China is known for its dynamic manufacturing industry across the world, and Guangdong province is the epitome of it. Now, both the province and China at large are evolving from “Made in China” to “Created in China” and therefore, in dire need of talent to advance technologies and develop smart manufacturing.


What will be the role of foreign talents in this process of China’s manufacturing upgrade? From a country whose economy was wrecked by prolonged war and industrial sectors were barely complete, how has China metamorphosed into the “world’s factory”? What is its plan to realize “Created in China” in the midst of the Fourth Industrial Revolution?

Following Anna, you will go deep into Baidu Apollo Park to experience autonomous driving; tour around Guangdong CPS Discrete Manufacturing Digital Innovation Center to learn about intelligent manufacturing and green manufacturing; visit the International Institute of Research and Innovation (Huangpu) to find out the latest technological inventions co-developed by China and CIS countries. Located in the east of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Huangpu district is at the center of the Pearl River Delta, which is part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

It is currently home to more than 40,000 companies, including 2,600 technology-based companies and 2,100 domestic high-tech enterprises, aiming to become a demonstration zone for economic growth and high-quality development in the GBA.
